Search underway to locate man missing from Wollongong

A search is underway to locate a man reported missing from the Wollongong area overnight.

Kim Hanigan, aged 63, was last seen at a home on Woodlawn Avenue, Mangerton, and is believed to have left about 3.30am today (Thursday 24 August 2023).

When he was unable to be located or contacted, officers attached to Wollongong Police District were notified and commenced a search of the area with the assistance of Police Rescue and the Dog Unit.

Kim lives with dementia and may appear disoriented.

Police and family hold concerns for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character.

Kim is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm to 180cm tall, of large build, with grey hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing dark coloured jumper and tracksuit pants, and a cream coloured beanie.

Anyone who sees Kim, is urged not to approach and contact police or Triple Zero (000).
