Securing future of Rosebud Hospital

Liberal Party Victoria

Families on the Mornington Peninsula will finally receive the health services they deserve under the Liberals and Nationals’ plan for a $340 million redevelopment of Rosebud Hospital.

The existing hospital is an outdated facility that is no longer fit for purpose to meet the needs of its staff and the growing Mornington Peninsula community.

The main buildings have not been redeveloped or expanded in nearly three decades and the two operating theatres are no longer used as they do not meet current Australian standards.

That’s why the Liberals and Nationals will undertake the stage-two redevelopment of Rosebud Hospital commencing with detailed planning, design, and commencement of construction within our first term of government.

A Liberals and Nationals Government will also work with the Commonwealth Government to ensure a one-third share of funding and support is provided towards the redevelopment project.

Leader of the Liberal Party, Matthew Guy, said Rosebud Hospital had been forgotten about under Labor and simply cannot cope with the massive increase in demand and population growth in the area.

“Despite longstanding calls to deliver an upgraded Rosebud Hospital, Daniel Andrews and Labor have failed to guarantee the community funding for this much needed new hospital facility”, Mr Guy said.

“Only the Liberals and Nationals will redevelop Rosebud Hospital and ensure that the people of the Mornington Peninsula will get quality healthcare they deserve, close to home.”

Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier, said years of neglect and underinvestment from the Andrews Labor Government has resulted in a system in crisis which is not delivering for local communities.

“Communities across the Mornington Peninsula have been left behind by the Andrews Labor Government – the Liberals and Nationals’ plan will deliver real solutions to everyday problems that have been ignored for too long.”

Liberal Candidate for Nepean, Sam Groth, said building the Rosebud Hospital is about delivering quality local healthcare to the growing community beyond Frankston Hospital.

“Only a Matthew Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver the Mornington Peninsula this much-needed major redevelopment of Rosebud Hospital, and I’m proud to be part of the team which will do just that.”

The redevelopment of Rosebud Hospital forms part of the Liberals and Nationals’ plan to build a world-class health system, which includes new and upgraded hospitals in Warragul, Mildura, Melton, Wodonga, St Arnaud and Sandringham, as well as a new Infectious Diseases Response Centre.
