Hiroshima, Japan – Join UNITAR in defending human rights in the age of artificial intelligence with a unique translation project led by youth.
Youth are invited to translate or review in their native language an online training on how artificial intelligence, or AI, affects human rights in a project co-organized by SALTO Participation & Information Resource Centre (SALTO-PI), UNITAR and UNESCO. Applicants have until 26 September to apply.
For the 2022 Year of European Youth, SALTO-PI, UNITAR and UNESCO are calling for young translators and reviewers to adapt a short online learning course on AI and Human Rights into their mother tongues. The applications will close on the European Day of Languages, 26 September.
Artificial intelligence is impacting human rights worldwide. In 2021, UNESCO and UNITAR jointly developed a short online learning course on AI and Human Rights for young adults aged 16 to 24. The course focuses on how the development of AI affects:
- the freedom of expression
- the right to privacy
- the right to equality.
The online course is free, accessible to everyone, and currently available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian. The call for translators aims to broaden this list of languages by involving young people and youth workers. Participating in this project is an opportunity for youth to take part in a collective effort to promote the ethical use of AI and the protection of human rights.
