The AEDC provides a wealth of information that helps inform communities and professionals about how children are tracking developmentally.

Department of Education and Training representatives, Cathie Nolan and Kimberly Thompson will be presenting the latest data and helping translate what it represents at the Killara Centre in Camperdown on Tuesday 17 September.

Cathie is the Project Manager for Policy and Strategy at the Department of Education and Training and Kimberly is the Project Manager, Comprehensive Child Development Monitoring Department of Education and Training.

“Please join us for an informative and interactive evening where we will discuss what the local data is telling us, what this means for our Corangamite children and how we can use the data for future planning” Sue said.

“The census gives a snapshot of more than 300,000 children in their first year of full-time school.

“The data comes from teachers’ observations of the children across five domains: physical health and wellbeing; social competence; emotional maturity; language and cognitive skills; and communication and general knowledge.

“Understanding the data can identify ways to make sure children thrive in those crucial years when their brains are developing rapidly.”
