Seniors Festival program available now

The program for the 2019 Bendigo Victorian Seniors Festival which runs from October 6 to 13 is now available.

City of Greater Bendigo Health and Wellbeing Director Vicky Mason said this year’s program is packed full of great events with something for everyone.

“This year’s festival theme “Get into it” encourages participation in a range of activities and events designed to entertain, inform and celebrate the role older Australians make in our community,” Ms Mason said.

“With many events either free or low cost it’s a great time to venture out and try something new.”

Highlights of the program include the official event concert, You’ve Got a Friend – the Songs and Story of Carole King with a Touch of James Taylor at the Capital Theatre on Monday October 7.

This concert marks the official opening of the festival and features Nikki Nicholls singing the songs of Carole King, supported by Steve Wade who shares a touch of James Taylor, with songs including ‘How sweet it is to be loved by you’, and ‘Steam roller blues’.

Other events include dancing, exercise classes, walking groups, come and try days, information sessions, yoga, concerts, afternoon teas – you even can try the ukulele!

There are also tours of the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, Central Deborah Gold Mine and Vintage Talking Tram tours and much more.
