Mayor Neil Reilly has encouraged our older residents to take advantage of this year’s NSW Seniors Festival (25 March to 3 April), to reconnect with each other.

Cr Reilly said the theme for the 2022 Festival was ‘re-connection’ was more than appropriate given the isolation everyone had experienced in the last two years.

“Many people have experienced isolation in the last two years. I know this is especially true of seniors, because of their vulnerability to COVID,” Cr Reilly said.

“Our older residents may have missed out on virtual meetings and may also have struggled with technology. Therefore, the return of the NSW Seniors Festival this month was very timely indeed.”

“Nothing beats being with people, face-to-face.”

Kiama Council has again produced a program of local events for our seniors to enjoy:

Our Kiama Leisure is providing a range of Aqua classes, Group Active and Health Moves sessions.

Kiama Library is hosting Seniors Stories, where you can start working on your life story with the help of author Selena Hanet-Hutkins.

Do you know what an Advanced Care Directive is? Compassionate Community Kiama has organised a session with local doctors to guide you through the basic principles of this important document for all ages.

The Kiama Bicycle User Group (BUGS) are saddling up for a Kiama Ride with the pace and distance to suit all participants.

Finally, dietitian Liliana Barone is providing a ‘head to toe’ look at healthy eating and how it assists our overall health and wellbeing as we age.
