Seniors, level up your tech skills with FREE workshops

Don’t get left behind in the digital age we now live in! There is still time to become a tech savvy and scam-safe senior by taking part in the FREE technology workshops for local seniors at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri Libraries.

As part of Scams Awareness Week, on Tuesday 8 November from 12.00pm to 1.00pm, Cessnock Library will be hosting a live webinar on tips and tricks to avoid scams with nbn. This event will be facilitated by Kaleb Crowhurst, the nbn co. community ambassador for Hunter New England and Western NSW. The community are invited to attend and learn how to identify a scam and protect themselves from being a victim. Kaleb will be on hand to answer questions and guests who attend will receive a free copy of the ACCC’s ‘Little Black Book of Scams.’ Bookings can be made here or by contacting the library.

Members of the community are also invited to join the small, friendly workshops supported by expert staff where you can learn new skills to help you get connected. Upcoming workshops include:

The library also offers free and friendly thirty-minute one-to-one tech help sessions every week. These sessions are at Kurri Kurri Library each Thursday from 2pm and at Cessnock Library each Friday from 10am. Bookings are essential.

Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters is encouraging local seniors to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities. “It’s about teaching you that technology isn’t terrifying or to be avoided, but can be an incredibly useful tool when you have the skills to get the most out your device.”
