A sergeant from the Eastern Region has been charged following an internal investigation.
The 34-year-old male officer has been charged with misconduct in public office, unlawful assault, fail to carry/use handgun in a secure manner and fail to carry cartridge ammunition in a secure manner.
The charges relate to several incidents while the officer was both on and off-duty in the Eastern Region last year.
He has been charged on summons to appear before court at a later date.
