Police have executed warrants at 18 properties across Shepparton, Mooroopna, Kialla and Muckatah as part of an ongoing investigation relating to alleged criminal activities of the ‘Outlaws’ Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang (OMCG).
The warrants were executed from 7am this morning by police from Taskforce Echo, Armed Crime Squad, Vehicle Crime Squad, Fugitive Taskforce, State Liquor Unit, and local police from eastern and western regions.
Members of the Australian Federal Police National Anti Gangs Squad were also involved in the warrants.
The properties targeted during the warrants included residential and club house addresses.
The residential properties included:
• Regent Street, Shepparton
• McCubin Street, Shepparton
• Pell Crescent, Mooroopna
• Howe Street, Mooroopna
• Goulburn Valley Highway, Kialla
• Mitchell Street, Shepparton
• Ross Road, Muckatah
• Westmoreland Crescent, Shepparton
• Romney Cresney, Shepparton
• Minchin Road, Ardmona
• McMahon Court, Shepparton
• Carlos Court, Shepparton
• Queen Street, Invergordan
• Gange Street, Mooroopna
The club house properties included:
• Lisburn Street, Shepparton
• Broadway Street, Cobram
• Ballantynes Road, Nagambie
• Greed Street, Kyabram
Nine men were arrested by police as follows:
• Three men, aged, 53, 44 and 32 were arrested at separate houses at addresses across Shepparton
• Three men, aged 62, 50 and 32 were arrested at separate houses in Mooroopna
• A 50-year-old man was arrested at a house in Kialla
• A 59-year-old man was arrested at a house in Invergordan; and
• A 55-year-old man was arrested at a house in Ardmona.
A 62-year-old Mooroopna man has since been charged with possess and traffic cannabis and possess controlled weapon.
He has been bailed to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on 23 March 2020.
The remainder of the men will now be interviewed by police.
A number of items were allegedly located at the properties including drugs, firearms, liquor and stolen property.
Detective Acting Inspector Paul Lloyd said today’s warrants form part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of OMCGs, particularly in regional Victoria.
We can assure the community that Victoria Police will do everything to prevent, detect, disrupt and reduce the unlawful activities of these organised crime groups.” he said.
It’s also important that these groups recognise that if you are willing to be involved in this type of serious crime then you will ultimately be a target for Victoria Police.”
“Victoria Police are aware that incidents involving OMCG are generally targeted and linked to disputes between groups, however the potential to cause significant harm in the broader community is high,” he said.
“Today’s arrests are a significant result not just for police but for the broader Victorian community.”
