Serious assault police and dangerous driving charges at Gold Coast

A woman has been charged with the alleged serious assault of two police officers in Southport this afternoon, who were investigating reports of her alleged dangerous driving in Ormeau earlier in the day, Friday November 4.

Investigators will allege the woman was driving a white 2010 Mazda 3 southbound along the Pacific Motorway/M1 around 8.30am when her vehicle collided with a 2015 silver kia rio travelling in the same direction and whose occupants were uninjured.

Police will further allege the woman left the scene and later presented to the Southport police station where they allege she pulled a knife from her waistband in an interview room with two police, brandishing it overhead and threatening the officers, who deployed a taser in response.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A 45-year-old Pacific Pines woman has been charged with two counts each of serious assault police and one count of dangerous operation of a motorvehicle.

She was denied police bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday November 5.
