SEVERE WEATHER EVENT – 06 February 2020, as at 10.30am

The City is experiencing severe rain across the Gold Coast especially around the hinterland areas.

We are expecting flash flooding in some areas and we’re asking everyone to monitor the Bureau of Meteorology for the latest information and listen to local radio.

Sandbagging stations will be open from late this morning. They are located at:

  • 232 Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama
  • 46 Boyd St, Bilinga
  • 61 Hutchinson St, Burleigh Heads

We’re working to ensure we have the necessary equipment and resources in place to manage the situation.

Please monitor the Bureau’s latest information at bom.gov.au and revisit your own personal emergency action plan, especially those living in low lying and flood prone areas.

And remember if it’s flooded, forget it.

Visit to find everything you need to know to prepare your family and your home.

In a life threatening emergency call triple zero (000). For storm related assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
