Calling all local recreation, leisure and sport enthusiasts – we are now recruiting for our Recreation and Leisure Committee for 2027-2028.
During the two-year term, committee members will have opportunities to contribute to Council decisions and initiatives relating to recreation, leisure and sport, including:
- Provide advice and input on Council’s leisure initiatives and programs, including the Sport and Leisure Awards and Leisure Minor Capital Works Grants Scheme.
- Participate in consultation, review and implementation activities relating to Council’s recreation, leisure and sport policies, strategies and plans.
- Discuss participation opportunities, emerging issues, active recreation, leisure activities and public open space use.
- Represent the committee on broader Council advisory groups and contribute to discussions on community-wide initiatives, such as the Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan.
We welcome people involved in sporting clubs and leisure groups, as well as runners, walkers, cyclists, fitness groups and anyone who enjoys being active in Knox.
Committee members are required to attend four committee meetings per year, typically on a Wednesday night for two hours each.
