Shots Fired Inside Morphett Vale Home

Police are investigating after shots were fired inside a Morphett Vale home overnight.

Police were called to a home in Wheatsheaf Road, Morphett Vale just after 2.30am on Monday 6 July by reports of a home invasion.

When patrols arrived in the street, they spotted two vehicles, a black SUV and a black station wagon, leaving the address and immediately pursued the black station wagon.

The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons near the intersection of Main South Road and Flaxmill Road.

Police attended the home and it was then reported that two suspects had forced their way inside, assaulted a man and discharged a firearm inside the house. They then stole the black Holden Commodore station wagon from the address.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting.

A 42-year-old Reynella man sustained facial injuries during the assault and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Crime scene and CIB detectives attended and examined the scene.

While the investigation is in its early stages, detectives do not believe this was a random incident and the people involved are known to each other.

Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone who spots the stolen black Holden Commodore station wagon, registration S602CRY, possibly travelling in company with a black SUV, or has dashcam or CCTV footage that may assist is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
