Shots fired, Surfers Paradise

Police have arrested a man after shots were allegedly fired outside a Surfers Paradise high-rise resort this afternoon.

Just before 1pm, police were notified that two men had been fighting on Hamilton Avenue, before one allegedly brandished a firearm and fired shots.

Officers immediately attended the scene and conducted extensive patrols of the area.

Around 1.30pm, police arrested a man hiding in bushes nearby, between Hamilton Avenue and Markwell Avenue.

A subsequent search of the man allegedly located a firearm in his possession.

Police are still looking for the other person involved in the alleged fight.

It is believed no one was injured during the incident. There is no further threat to public safety.
