Sixth person charged over alleged role in jewellery store robbery – Sydney

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a sixth person following an investigation into an alleged armed robbery at a jewellery store in Sydney’s CBD earlier this year.

About 6.30pm on Thursday 19 January 2023, police will allege a 65-year-old male store owner and a 47-year-old female employee were inside a jewellery store in George Street to assist two male customers with an appointment.

A short time later, police were told one of the customers allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, while the other man allegedly threatened the store owner and demanded access to the safe.

Both staff members were allegedly restrained before the two men fled the store.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries before the matter was referred to State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Ingestre.

Over the course of the investigation, strike force detectives have charged five people who remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, on Tuesday 28 November 2023 officers issued a 39-year-old woman a Court Attendance Notice for perverting the course of justice.

She will appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 18 January 2023.

Investigations under Strike Force Ingestre continue.
