South Australia Covid update as at 1 January 2022

There have been 2,108 new cases of COVID-19 reported today. There have been 13,178 cases reported in South Australia to date.

Today’s cases include 206 children, 125 teenagers, 916 women aged between 18 and 97 and 856 men aged between 18 and 97, and five with demographics unknown.

Of these, 37 cases acquired their infection in South Australia and are known contacts of a positive case, 394 cases acquired their infection in South Australia with the contact unknown, 11 acquired their infection interstate, and 1,666 cases are under investigation.

There are 71 cases in hospital, including 10 children, one teenager, eight people in their 20s, seven people in their 30s, five people in their 40s, 16 people in their 50s, nine people in their 60s, six people in their 70s, seven people in their 80s, and two people in their 90s. Included in the hospitalised cases are two people in their 20s in ICU, one of whom is ventilated, one person in their 50s and one person in their 60s in ICU.

Of the hospitalised cases, 39 are fully vaccinated, 22 are unvaccinated (includespartial and nil vaccination) and 10 have an unknown vaccination status.

We encourage anyone who has been out in the community to monitor closely for symptoms and get tested as soon as soon as they appear.
