COVID cases in SA

There have been 1,482 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 11,616 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm one man in his 50s, three men in their 70s, one man in his 80s, three women in their 80s, four women in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 28 May 2022 and 10 August 2022.

There are 256 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including ten people in ICU and one of those ventilated.

*Due to changes underway within hospital reporting systems, today’s hospitalisation numbers have been collated using an alternative reporting method, and will be in place until later this month. Associated vaccination data is not available.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 75.3% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 7,342 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 9.5% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 775 PCR tests were positive, while 707 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.2% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.7% of eligible South Australians and 70.4% of South Australians aged 16+.
