COVID cases in SA

There have been 1,400 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 11,211 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm one woman in her 70s, one woman in her 80s, two women in their 90s, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s, one man in his 80s and one man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 13 May 2022 and 11 August 2022.

There are 275 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU and one of those ventilated.

*Due to changes underway within hospital reporting systems, today’s hospitalisation numbers have been collated using an alternative reporting method, which will be in place until later this month. Associated vaccination data is not available.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 75.3% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 6,273 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 14.6% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 728 PCR tests were positive, while 672 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
