COVID cases in SA

There have been 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 10,651 active cases in South Australia.

There are 274 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU.

*Due to changes underway within hospital reporting systems, today’s hospitalisation numbers have been collated using an alternative reporting method, which will be in place until later this month. Associated vaccination data is not available.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11.3% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 75.3% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 4,930 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 21.4% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 475 PCR tests were positive, while 525 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
