COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,761 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 25,018 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 70s, who tested positive for COVID-19, has passed away.

There are 231 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including seven people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 117 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 57 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 57 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 68.6% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11.7% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 12.6% of samples analysed were BA.5.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 10,058 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 5.7% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,518 PCR tests were positive, while 2,243 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 73.7% of eligible South Australians and 69.3% of South Australians aged 16+.
