COVID Cases in SA

There have been 4,774 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 30,034 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, since the last report, SA Health has been notified that 22 people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 3 May 2022 and 18 July 2022 and include latest monthly data released from Births, Deaths and Marriages.

SA Health can confirm five women in their 80s, nine women in their 90s, two women over 100, two men in their 70s, a man in his 80s, two men in their 90s and a man over 100, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 323 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU, with one person ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 189 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 81 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 53 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 20.7% of samples analysed were BA.2, 18% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 56.7% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 11,625 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 51.8% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,544 PCR tests were positive, while 2,230 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74% of eligible South Australiansand 69.6% of South Australians aged 16+.
