COVID Cases in SA

There have been 5,054 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 30,525 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a woman in her 70s, a woman in her 80s, four women in their 90s and a man in his 80s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 354 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 12 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 206 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 88 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 60 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling has found 20.7% of samples analysed were BA.2, 18% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 56.7% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 11,665 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 0.34% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 2,693 PCR tests were positive, while 2,361 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74% of eligible South Australians and 69.7% of South Australians aged 16+.
