South Australia Covid update as at 30 December 2021

There have been 1,374 new cases of COVID-19 reported today. There have been 8,993 cases reported in South Australia to date.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a child under the age of two who tested positive for COVID-19 passed away. The child acquired COVID-19 in South Australia, but the cause of the death is currently being determined following a referral to the Coroner as per standard process.

The child’s passing is the sixth death in South Australia of somebody who had tested positive to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Today’s cases include 99 children, 81 teenagers, 571 women aged between 18 and 95, and 623 men aged between 18 and 98.

Of these, 46 cases acquired their infection in South Australia and are known contacts of a positive case, and 1,328 cases are under investigation.

There are 37 cases in hospital, of which are six children, four people in their 20s, five people in their 30s, four people in their 40s, six people in their 50s, six people in their 60s, two people in their 70s, three people in their 80s and one person in their 90s. Included in the total hospitalised cases, are one person in their 30s who is ventilated in ICU, two people in their 60s and one person in their 70s in ICU. Of the hospitalised cases, 17 are fully vaccinated, 19 are unvaccinated (includes partial and nil vaccination) and one has an unknown vaccination status.

We encourage anyone who has been out in the community to monitor closely for symptoms and get tested as soon as soon as they appear.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, seven cases from yesterday have been removed from the total number of cases.
