South Australia Covid update as at 31 December 2021

There have been 2,093 new cases of COVID-19 reported today. There have been 11,078 cases reported in South Australia to date.

SA Health can confirm a woman in her 90s and a man in his 80s who tested positive for COVID-19 have passed away. Cause of death is currently being determined following referral to the Coroner as per standard process.

Today’s cases include 206 children, 145 teenagers, 886 women aged between 18 and 105 and 856 men aged between 18 and 91.

Of these, one case acquired their infection in South Australia and are known contacts of a positive case, two cases acquired their infection in South Australia with the contact unknown, and 2,090 cases are under investigation.

There are 44 cases in hospital, of which are two people in their 20s, five people in their 30s, six people in their 40s, five people in their 50s, ten people in their 60s, seven people in their 70s, four people in their 80s, three people in their 90s and two people older than 100. Included in the total hospitalised cases are one person in their 30s who is ventilated in ICU, two people in their 60s and one person in their 70s in ICU. Of the hospitalised cases, 26 are fully vaccinated, 14 are unvaccinated (includes partial and nil vaccination) and four have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, eight cases from yesterday have removed from the total number of cases.

We encourage anyone who has been out in the community to monitor closely for symptoms and get tested as soon as soon as they appear.
