COVID cases in SA

There have been 2,364 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 22,243 active cases in South Australia.

SA Health can confirm one woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, two men in their 80s, a woman in her 90s, and three men in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 9 July 2022 and 29 July 2022 and include latest received data.

There are 346 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 11 people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 209 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 124 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 13 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 14.8% of samples analysed were BA.2, 16.3% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 68.1% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 8,235 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 4% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,328 PCR tests were positive, while 1,036 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
