COVID cases in SA

There have been 1,625 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 15,312 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm there have been seven deaths. The deaths include one woman in her 70s, two women in their 80s, one man in his 40s, one man in his 60s, one man in his 70s and one man in his 80s. The deaths notified since the last report occurred between 7 June 2022 and 7 August 2022.

There are 322 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 10 people in ICU and two of those ventilated. Of those hospitalised, 204 people have received three or more vaccine doses, 92 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 26 have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants

The latest genome sampling has found 11% of samples analysed were BA.2, 11% of samples analysedwere BA.4 and 77.9% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.

COVID testing

Yesterday, 5,527 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 14.1% decrease on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 793 PCR tests were positive, while 832 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Vaccination update

Currently 96.1% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.2% havereceived their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 74.6% ofeligible South Australiansand 70.3% of South Australians aged 16+.
