South Kolan Station has doubled its capacity to bolster community safety, increasing from two to four permanent full-time officers.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) conducted analysis for growth of the station following increased calls for service to the area in line with population growth.
The South Kolan police division is 1,444sq kilometres with a divisional population of approximately 6,000 people. The police division borders Bundaberg to the east, Gin Gin to the west, Rosedale to the north and Childers to the south.
Officer in Charge of South Kolan Station Sergeant Tim Clark says the community has welcomed the additional police presence in the area.
“While the Wide Bay District uses an agile and borderless policing model, an extra two officers based permanently in South Kolan will go a long way to making sure residents are and feel safe,” he said.
“There has been significant growth in the area in recent years, and we will continue to work collaboratively with officers across the district to support each other to provide community safety services.”
South Kolan police division is also supported by many specialist units including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Highway Patrol, Scenes of Crime, Dog Squad, Rural and Stock Crime Squad and the Intelligence Office.
