Windham St, Wallan
The stage one works at Windham Street, between William and King Streets, Wallan, continue to progress despite the recent spate of wet weather.
Construction crews will move to the road edges early next week as most of the new drainage for the road has been built.
New footpaths are under construction to create a safer, more connected Windham Street for those walking or riding through Wallan.
The project is making a significant impact on the rehabilitation of Wallan’s road network and footpath infrastructure.
The work zone is reduced to 40km during construction. The north-bound lane is closed with a detour established along Bentinck Street. While there may be some minor delays, traffic will still be able to move through the area.
Council reminds drivers to follow traffic instructions for their safety and visitors to the area.
The transformation is to support safer movement through the area as part of Council’s $620,000 capital works.
Speed limit to changes
Mitchell Shire Council is advising road users in the Kilmore area to abide by a number of new speed changes in the area.
After public and stakeholder consultation, the following changes will be made within the coming fortnight:
- Kilmore East Road: reduce existing 80km/h zone to
60km/h.
- O’Gradys Road: increase existing 50km/h zone to
60km/h.
- Dry Creek Road: reduce existing 80km/h zone to
60km/h.
- Kilmore East-Sunday Creek Road: reduce existing
80km/h zone to 60km/h.
New yellow speed limit change signs will be installed to inform road users of the changes.
Council urges all motorists to take note of these changes and abide by the road rules.
