A suspended P-Plater has been arrested and had his car seized following an investigation into high risk driving on the Eastern Freeway.
North West Achilles Taskforce began investigating the driver following reports a red Volkswagen Polo sedan was travelling at more than 210km/h on the freeway near Balwyn North about 10pm on Sunday 30 July.
It’s alleged the driver was weaving in and out of traffic and almost lost control of the vehicle before drifting into an emergency lane.
Officers spoke with the alleged driver in August and impounded his vehicle as part of their investigation.
Police later arrested him during a warrant at a Fairfield property on Monday.
The 18-year-old man was charged with reckless conduct endangering life, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, driving in a manner dangerous, driving while suspended and driving while touching a portable device.
He was bailed to appear before the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 20 March 2024 where police will apply to forfeit his vehicle.
