Sport Integrity Australia partner with Samoa to promote clean and safe sport

Sport Integrity Australia and the Samoa Medical and Anti-Doping Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work collaboratively to promote clean and safe sport in the region.

As part of the MoU, Sport Integrity Australia is supporting through a range of activities, including sharing expertise to support the Samoa Medical and Anti-Doping Agency deliver an enhanced anti-doping program. This includes the donation of sample collection equipment to conduct urine tests and support with sample analysis.

Sport Integrity Australia Acting CEO Dr Sarah Benson said the agency is proud to extend our collaboration with Pacific partners in our joint efforts to deliver anti-doping programs in the region.

“Australia and the Pacific share a rich history and deep love of sport,” Dr Benson said.

“Sport Integrity Australia is committed to working with Samoa to ensure together, we have a fair competitive environment, where athletes can participate with integrity.”

Samoa Medical and Anti-Doping Agency Chair Natanya Potoi said it was exciting to be working closely with international organisations to share best practices, coordinate efforts and strengthen the global anti-doping system within the shared region.

“We envision a sporting community where athletes can thrive, free from doping and harm and all athletes compete on equal footing,” Ms Potoi said.

“Collaborating with our partners will strengthen our anti-doping programs as we head towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games – A Games for the whole Pacific.”
