Camden, Campbelltown and Wollondilly Shire Councils have welcomed the next step towards delivering the long-awaited second stage of the Spring Farm Parkway project, with the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) now on public exhibition.
The proposed three-kilometre, four-lane extension would create a critical east-west connection between Menangle Park and Spring Farm, linking the Camden Bypass, Hume Motorway and Menangle Road. Providing an important alternative to Narellan Road and improving access to the Hume Motorway. The project is expected to help ease congestion on Narellan Road and improve travel times and connectivity for a large proportion of Camden residents, while supporting the continued growth of the region.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Vince Ferreri, said the release of the REF was another important milestone for a project that has long been identified as a missing piece of Camden’s road network.
“Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 is the missing link that will ultimately transform how many of our residents travel across Camden and connect to the broader road network,” the Mayor said.
“Council congratulates the Australian and NSW Governments on their collaboration to progress the planning and design of this important infrastructure, which will be critical to supporting Camden’s growth and improving connectivity across our region.
“Council is also playing its part, with works currently underway to deliver the extension of Liz Kernohan Drive to Camden Valley Way, while Mirvac has completed and on 28 August 2026 opened the Charles McIntosh Parkway connection between Cobbitty Road and Peter Brock Drive.
“Stage 2 of the Spring Farm Parkway will bring these pieces together, providing an important alternative to Narellan Road, easing congestion and giving a large proportion of Camden residents better access to the Hume Motorway.
“The release of the REF is another important step towards this project becoming a reality, and we look forward to seeing the momentum continue towards funding and construction.”
The broader network is already taking shape, with Camden Council delivering the extension of Liz Kernohan Drive to Camden Valley Way, while Mirvac has completed the Charles McIntosh Parkway section.
The Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound, welcomed the next stage of this important piece of infrastructure and encouraged the community to share their feedback.
“Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 is an exciting next step in the delivery of this critical connection for our region. Seeing the project move into the next stage of planning is a positive for our community and the broader Macarthur region,” he said.
“This is about more than building another road. It’s about giving our growing community better connections, more travel choice and a reliable alternative to Narellan Road, to ease the congestion our community experience every day.”
“We know our roads are under increasing pressure as the region continues to grow, which is why delivering the right infrastructure alongside that growth is so important.”
“I encourage the community to have their say on the Review of Environmental Factors to ensure the project remains a priority and that its design and delivery reflect the needs and expectations of our residents, businesses and road users. I look forward to the project continuing to progress towards construction.”
Mayor of Wollondilly Shire, Cr Matt Gould, said the project was an essential link for the region.
“Stage 2 of Spring Farm Parkway will complete an important link for the large number of Wollondilly residents travelling to Campbelltown, Camden and other major centres to access work, study and essential services. Southbound ramps to the Hume Motorway would further improve that connection, and will also need to be added to optimise this piece of infrastructure for our community.
“I look forward to seeing the Parkway divert traffic away from Narellan Road as well as easing the pressure on some of Wollondilly’s local roads which are often used as detours.
“Thank you to the Australian and NSW Governments for working together on the next step of this significant piece of regional infrastructure to support our local communities and growth areas.”
The Australian and NSW Governments have committed $15 million to progress planning for Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2.
