Following a review of the stadium operations, YMCA Ballarat has decided to exit the management of Camperdown Community Stadium and Timboon Sports Centre when its contract ends on Sunday 30 June.

Area Manager—Community Recreation at YMCA Ballarat Craig Mathieson said it had managed both facilities for over 10 years working proudly alongside Council, the committees of management, sporting associations and user groups, supporting each to provide excellent sporting programs to the local communities.

Council Acting Manager Facilities and Recreation Jane Hinds said Council was working closely with the YMCA to make sure residents and the schools could still access the venues and sport could still be played.

“These are great community assets and will continue to be so into the future.

“Council is committed to the health and wellbeing of the community and will continue to provide opportunities for people to lead active lifestyles.

“We have had a longstanding relationship with YMCA but now it’s time to work with sporting associations and other groups who use the facilities and work out the best way to deliver the recreation opportunities they want.”

The YMCA and Corangamite Shire Council will work closely to ensure a smooth transition for customers attending both centres.
