Staged reopening for Council services

Last Tuesday we reopened our parks, playgrounds and open spaces and this week we are pleased to be reopening a selection of Council community services under the state-wide easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Mayor Bim Lange said the community could expect to see Nuriootpa Library re-open Wednesday this week with reduced services, followed by branch libraries.

Mayor Lange said the resumption of regional travel to the Barossa was especially welcome, coinciding with the re-opening of the Barossa Visitor Centre.

“It’s been a long time between drinks in the Barossa, so to speak, particularly for our wine and food businesses, and we look forward to an upturn in visitor numbers for socially responsible visitation,” he said.

The Rex pool will not open until such time as Council and operator Belgravia can establish appropriate safeguards for swimmers and carers, likely to align with Step 2 of the South Australian Roadmap for Easing COVID-19 Restrictions from 8 June.

Meanwhile, Council is supporting individual sporting and community clubs to manage the risks associated with a phased reopening of activities in line with State restrictions and medical and public health advice.

Mayor Lange stressed that under the South Australian Roadmap, social distancing and personal hygiene standards remain in place across all Council venues.

“We know people are keen to return to our local facilities but our first priority is ensuring this occurs in a measured, considered and well-managed way,” Mayor Lange said.

In the current environment cashless payments for Council rates and dog registration remain the preferred payment option, as are online Development Applications.
