Griffith City Council has launched a new campaign to encourage residents to shop local in the lead up to Christmas and is asking businesses to participate.
Businesses are invited to decorate and light-up their shop windows and register as a Star Business to encourage Star Shoppers to spend local in the lead up to the festive season.
Throughout November and December, customers will have the opportunity to win a $500 first prize or one of five (5) runners-up $100 vouchers to spend at any one of the participating businesses.
Griffith City Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi, said eye-catching Christmas displays not only make a statement, but grab attention and encourage people to step inside and discover what is on offer.
“Shoppers are not only searching for the perfect gift, they want an enjoyable experience,” he said.
“Council wants to support businesses and local spending this Christmas by running the Star Shopper Campaign. The winners will receive a nice little Christmas bonus.”
Christmas Working Group Chair, Councillor Dino Zappacosta said, he hopes the promotion will drive visitors to local stores this festive season.
“By offering incentive to shop in-store and bringing our shop windows to life we hope to help generate sales,” Councillor Zappacosta said.
Council will promote through social media including Instagram, and businesses are encouraged to showcase their displays using the hashtag #Glow2680
How businesses can get involved:
- Deck your shop window with lights and other festive decorations
- Register your business and receive a Glow2680 Star Business promotional sticker so that shoppers can easily identify that you are taking part
- Send Council photos of your window display or simply use the #Glow2680 on social media platforms
- Hand out entry forms for shoppers who spend over $15 to place in the box provided (one entry per spend)
- Have your window lights switched on in time for the Glow2680 Light Up on Friday, 3 December 2021 and consider staying open later that night
- Optionally take part in the Christmas Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, 4 December 2021
How shoppers can get involved:
- Shop in-store throughout the promotional period (from Monday, 1 November until Thursday, 9 December 2021) at any of the Star Businesses, easily identified by the Glow2680 Star Business Sticker
- Fill out the in-store entry form issued upon spending $15 (one entry per spend)
- Don’t forget to do your Christmas shopping during the Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, 4 December 2021
