State funding sees Brisbane electronics manufacturer wired for future

South-west Brisbane electronics solutions specialists IntelliDesign expect to create 15 new high-skilled jobs after receiving $214,228 from the Palaszczuk Government to purchase state-of-the-art equipment.

Member for Mount Ommaney Jess Pugh said the new equipment will help the Seventeen Mile Rocks business streamline their processes and secure more high-value contracts.

“IntelliDesign will use their MiQ grant to introduce a new flying probe tester into their business, which is designed for testing electronic printed circuit boards,” Ms Pugh said.

“The technology will allow their existing staff to upskill, while the ability to increase production will see an anticipated 15 jobs created over the next five years.

“IntelliDesign have been providing smart electronic solutions for medical, mining, military, ITS, transport, and rail sectors for more than two decades, and this grant will help them grow their glowing reputation even further.

“Our government’s $46 million Made in Queensland (MiQ) grants program is a proven job-generating initiative, and it’s great to see more of these jobs being created in our community.”

IntelliDesign CEO Matt Bromwich said MiQ funding would alleviate the pressures of manual board-level testing for the business.

“It means we can use automated technology to meet the increasingly stringent testing requirements imposed by global clients such as defence industry manufacturer Rheinmetall,” Mr Bromwich said.

“This new equipment will allow us to increase our international competitiveness.”

Minister for Manufacturing Cameron Dick said MiQ is helping local manufacturers expand, upskill and employ.

“Since 2017 the Palaszczuk Government has supported around 75 projects across Queensland through MiQ,” Mr Dick said.

“The grants, which are matched by the manufacturers, will help create more than 930 new jobs over the next five years and are expected to generate approximately $92 million in private sector investment.”

Shortlisted applicants for MiQ Round 3 will be invited to submit detailed applications in November.
