State Government funding just ticket for 2022 Perth Royal Show

  • State Government $2 million package to support 2022 Royal Show
  • Funding provides a 25 per cent discount to ticket prices across all categories
  • Package includes enhanced onsite biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of livestock diseases
  • The McGowan Government is supporting Western Australia’s premier community event, the Perth Royal Show, with a $2 million package that includes subsidised tickets for all members of the family.

The annual eight-day extravaganza that brings the country to the city, will have an emphasis on agricultural activities and free events, as well as a unique digital media education program for young people on where food comes from, ag-tech and sustainability.

The State’s funding provides a 25 per cent discount to ticket prices across all categories, ensuring once again West Australians will enjoy significantly discounted tickets – some of the cheapest in Australia.

Biosecurity measures will be heightened across the show in response to the elevated risk of foot and mouth disease, including sanitation mats and hand sanitiser stations at the entrance to livestock displays, visitor restrictions around livestock displays and cautionary signage.

Royal Agricultural Society of WA animal health staff will also be on hand to raise visitors’ awareness about foot and mouth disease risk and help them comply with biosecurity requirements.

Each ticket will contain biosecurity information, while educational material will also be visible around the showgrounds so exhibitors, staff and showgoers understand the impact a potential livestock disease would have on the State’s valuable agricultural industries.

The State funding will also assist the Royal Agricultural Society of WA to comply with COVID-19 compliance costs.

The Perth Royal Show is on 24 September until 1 October 2022. For more information visit www.perthroyalshow.com.au.

As stated by Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“The Perth Royal Show is a great celebration of our primary industries – showcasing the diversity, sophistication and sustainability of modern agriculture.

“It connects the city to the country, and we are subsidising tickets again to maximise access to the Show for West Australians.

“We have put a special focus on biosecurity. Given the highlighted risk with Foot and Mouth Disease and Lumpy Skin Disease, we are helping the Royal Agricultural Society promote that message and take special care.”
