State Memorial Service For Victoria Police Officers

VIC Premier

A State Memorial Service will be held to honour Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris, who lost their lives in the Eastern Freeway tragedy last year.

On 22 April 2020, four families lost the people they love most, and Victoria Police officers lost four respected colleagues and friends.

Since that devastating evening, Lynette, Kevin, Josh and Glen have been rightfully remembered as heroes who paid the ultimate price while dedicating their lives to keeping us safe.

The pandemic has meant that there hasn’t yet been an opportunity to formally honour their service and reflect on this tragic and senseless loss of their life and the grief felt by so many since.

Now that we can do so safely, a State Memorial Service will be held on Thursday 3 February 2022 at 3pm at Marvel Stadium for friends, family, colleagues and members of the public to come together and pay tribute to these four Victorian heroes.

Planning is underway and further details of this service will be shared in due course and can be found at vic.gov.au/memorial-victoria-police.

As stated by Acting Premier James Merlino

“This memorial service is an important opportunity to remember our fallen police officers and reflect on the tragic loss of their lives while protecting and serving the Victorian community.”

As stated by Minister for Police Lisa Neville

“The loss of Lynette, Kevin, Josh and Glen in the line of duty was devastating and senseless, and they are missed every day. This is a chance to come together and celebrate the lives of these four Victorian heroes.”
