“Today, West Ward Councillor Ben Lucas has advised Baw Baw Shire Council he will run as a candidate in the upcoming Victorian State Election which will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026.
Cr Lucas intends to seek a leave of absence at a future date, which will be tabled at a Council Meeting. The leave of absence will remain effective until the election is complete as per the Municipal Association of Victoria guidelines.
Administrative procedures are underway to ensure Council business continues and, importantly, all relevant processes and conventions are followed.”
