Statement from Energy Minister

Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen and Minister for Public Works and Procurement The Honourable Mick de Brenni

I am advised that Queensland’s power system remains robust and is positioned well for the upcoming summer period.

The advice for Queensland that electricity supply exceeds forecast demand for the summer ahead has not changed.

Queensland will inject more than 700MW of new renewables before Christmas, and we continue to track on schedule towards return to service of the Callide power station from early 2024.

There will be more storage and generation coming, including when the largest onshore wind farm in the southern hemisphere – the 1000MW McIntyre wind farm becomes operational next year.
