Statement from Premier – Vale Michael Roche

Michael Roche made an invaluable contribution to public policy in Queensland including commencing the development of world leading mining rehabilitation reforms, work on the ASX in it’s formative years and as the Chair of Multicap assisting people with a disability.

All who knew Michael recognised his dedication to improving the lives of Queenslanders, his belief in progress and his honesty and integrity.

From his work as a senior executive at the ASX, as a public servant, Chief of Staff to Treasurer Keith De Lacy, board member of WorkCover Queensland and 11 years of service as the Chief Executive of the Queensland Resources Council, Michael contributed to many of the economic reforms that Queenslanders today take for granted.

Michael always remained at the forefront of public policy most recently providing analysis at McCullough Robertson Lawyers on Queensland’s strategy to develop a hydrogen export industry and the development of minerals resources and renewable energy.

Michael will be missed and his contributions to public life have made Queensland a better place.
