The exposed mine shaft in Brown Hill is on private land and, as such, Council does not have any direct responsibility.
Council is always able to assist in relation to the provision of standard engineering drawings to undertake the recapping.
The exposure of former mine shafts across Ballarat is not an unusual occurrence in that the capping was generally undertaken with timber product which has a limited life.
