Statement attributed to City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves
The City of Ballarat welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement that underused land within the municipality will be rezoned to facilitate the delivery of new homes, jobs and investment through the Unlocking Strategic Sites program.
This announcement reflects the collaborative work undertaken between the City of Ballarat, Victorian Government departments and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for sustainable growth, while supporting the strategic priorities set out in our key documents such as the Ballarat Housing Strategy 2041 and the draft Ballarat Industrial Land Strategy, which will shortly be the subject of community consultation.
It is a positive long-term outcome that will help deliver more future homes and jobs to support Ballarat’s growing population. It will also contribute to the achievement of the municipality’s infill housing objectives set out in the State Government’s strategy ‘Plan for Victoria’.
