The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is urging the public to re-consider plans to visit national parks over the weekend due to forecast heavy rainfall.
Rainfall and flooding is expected to impact many areas across NSW, including national parks, campgrounds and roads.
NPWS Executive Director Kane Weeks said visitors should stay safe and consider their need to travel this weekend.
“Wet weather can result in park roads closing at short notice and becoming unpassable,” Mr Weeks said.
“Heavy rainfall can also cause flooding, landslips, tree falls, wash out walking tracks and isolate roads and causeways.
“Given the recent and predicted rainfall and flooding, please reschedule any planned visits this weekend as closures can occur at short notice to keep our staff and visitors safe, which is our first priority.”
Visitors are advised to check NPWS safety alerts to keep up-to-date with the latest information.

Visitors are reminded heavy rainfall can result in park roads closing at short notice and becoming unpassable.
Do not shelter or camp under trees as the risk of tree falls increases with soggy ground and sustained rainfall.
Do not cross flooded creeks and flood waters for any reason.
