Staying active in Wodonga

A new brochure created by Wodongas Council aims to get our community more active and healthy in mind and body.

The brochure, Active Living in Wodonga, contains great information about the the opportunities for physical activity in our city, such as locations of outdoor fitness sites, walking and cycling trails, and other facilities.

We all know that staying active is great for our health but sometimes it can be difficult to stay motivated – which is where the new brochure comes in handy.

It contains handy tips and advice on how to maintain motivation so that people of all fitness levels can be physically and mentally healthy.

Wodonga Council’s Manager Sport and Recreation, Liona Edwards, said Active Living in Wodonga was part of the council’s commitment to increasing community awareness of the effects on people of not doing enough physical activity.

“Being physically active can make a huge difference to our wellbeing, which is where our new brochure helps by informing people of the many opportunities to engage in physical activity in our community,” she said.

“By promoting a lifestyle where people of all ages and abilities live, learn, work and play in active ways leads to better health and wellbeing for everyone.”

As part of the initiative, the council will continue to support government programs that drive change and help our community to be as healthy and active as possible.

Originally titled the “Walk Wodonga” initiative, the program has been expanded in line with the new Active Living in Wodonga Physical Activity Strategy.

Copies of Active Living in Wodonga are available at the council offices in Hovell St, or a digital version can be found here.
