Still time to nominate an outstanding young person in Ballarat

Nominations are rolling in for the 2022 Ballarat Youth Awards and there is time for you to nominate a young person who is giving their time to improve the city.

So far 50 young people have been nominated across 11 categories and the City of Ballarat is calling for even more outstanding people aged 12 – 25 to be nominated for an award.

Since 2005, the City of Ballarat Youth Awards have recognised the contributions that young people make in the Ballarat community.

The City of Ballarat Youth Awards are championed by community ambassadors who work together with young people to help them achieve their goals.

Gabriel Gervasoni, a City of Ballart Youth Volunteer and passionate advocate for youth and disability services, said receiving an award was a wonderful experience.

“I am honoured to be an Ambassador for the Youth Awards, because it is a chance for me to acknowledge the next generation of youth doing great things, and to give something back to the awards, of which I have been a previous winner,” he said.

“We are very fortunate in Ballarat to have an amazing community of young people who are contributing great things to our city.

“Ballarat has a wonderful, diverse community of young people that is welcoming and accepting of everyone and I am honoured to be an ambassador for this year’s Youth Awards.”

Harry Buck, a Headspace Youth Reference Group member and passionate advocate for mental health encourages everyone to consider a young person in their lives for an award.

“In 2016 I was luckily enough to be nominated for one of these very awards and now in 2022 I have been given the great honour to give back and show our appreciation for other awesome young people in our community,” he said.
