Stolen firearms recovered in Launceston search

Police are investigating after a number of stolen firearms were recovered during a search of a house in South Launceston yesterday.

Acting on information received from the public, Launceston detectives searched a house on Melbourne Street shortly before 3pm and located four firearms.

Three of the firearms had been stolen from Northern Tasmania in separate incidents between 2015 and 2019. A fourth firearm was also located.

Police are following a specific line of enquiry as the investigation continues.

At this stage no charges have been laid.
