Stolen Motor Vehicles – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 16-year-old male in relation to multiple stolen vehicles from Alice Springs Airport.

On 23 September 2023, accompanied by others, the male allegedly unlawfully entered a property at the airport, stealing numerous vehicle keys and 2 motor vehicles.

On 28 September 2023, utilizing the keys stolen, a further 2 motor vehicles were stolen from the same location on Gap Road, with the male seen to be a passenger in one of the vehicles.

On 11 October 2023, the male was identified as the driver of a stolen motor vehicle, believed to have been stolen during an aggravated burglary. He was seen allegedly driving the vehicle through the Alice Springs CBD with numerous unrestrained passengers standing in the rear tray of the vehicle, before intentionally crossing into oncoming lane of traffic for several seconds.

Strike Force Viper members attended a residence in Kurrajong Drive on 15 October 2023, where they located and arrested the 16-year-old male.

He has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated burglary
  • Theft
  • Drive/ride motor vehicle without consent x 3
  • Drive manner dangerous
  • Numerous other traffic offences

The male has been remanded in custody until 6 November 2023.
