Stolen Vehicle And Serious Assault Police At Townsville

Police have charged a man and woman in relation to a stolen vehicle incident that occurred in Townsville yesterday, February 25.

It will be alleged at approximately 3.25am, a silver Honda sedan was stolen from an Aitkenvale address.

At approximately 12.30pm, the same vehicle became bogged in the front yard of a Wulguru property before a man and woman were seen leaving the vehicle on foot.

Police attended and arrested a 20-year-old woman nearby.

Around 2.30pm, police were called to a Stuart Drive facility following reports of noises heard in the ceiling.

Police attended and climbed up into the ceiling, where they located the man.

It will be alleged the man broke through the roof ceiling and then left the facility on foot.

Police followed the man to a nearby property where he climbed up to the rooftop of a two storey building and allegedly threw broken glass down at police officers.

Police negotiators responded and at approximately 8.20pm, the man came down from the roof and was taken into custody.

No one was seriously injured as a result of the incident.

The 24-year-old Thuringowa Central man has been charged with four counts of serious assault police officer, three counts of enter dwelling and commit and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He has been denied police bail and is expected to appear at Townsville Magistrates Court today, February 26.

The 20-year-old Hermit Park woman has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is expected to appear at Townsville Magistrates today, February 26.
