Set aside your next couple of Sunday afternoons to enjoy some of our Region’s best musical talent in a series of virtual concerts presented by Rockhampton Regional Council and hosted by Triple M from the comfort of your home.

The first of the pre-recorded sessions, featuring Busby Marou and The Short Fall, will be streamed on the My Rockhampton Facebook page this Sunday at 5.30pm. The following Sunday we’ll be kicking off at the same time with Denver Baker Moller and Brad Butcher.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said this is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some of the talent born and bred in our Region and support our local entertainment industry.

“Our team at Advance Rockhampton have been working with some amazing musicians to film this series of sessions performed at the top of Mount Archer,” said Mayor Strelow.

“I know that people have really missed getting out and enjoying some great music. While all of our events are still on hold for the moment, this is the next best thing,

“And, of course, because the sessions are hosted online you can enjoy music with more people than ever. Not only can you arrange to watch the concert with friends and family here, you can extend the invite to friends anywhere in the world and show off what makes our Region special.

“I can’t think of many better ways to showcase our area than a great musician playing against the backdrop of our city from the top of Mount Archer.

“We’ll be kicking off this weekend with a performance from Busby Marou, so send the invite around and tune in with your friends from 5.30.”

Jeremy Marou, half of duo Busby Marou, said this was a great opportunity.

“The last few months have been tough siting on our hands watching COVID devastate a music industry,” said Mr Marou.

“We certainly needed this opportunity to get back on the guitars and to do so in our home town is a bonus. Hats off to the Rockhampton Regional Council.”

Matthew Wex, General Manager of Triple M Central Queensland, said they were excited to support the Virtual Sunday Sessions.

“This is another fantastic community initiative from Advance Rockhampton,” said Mr Wex.

“We couldn’t think of a better combination with live, local music beaming out to the world from the iconic Mt Archer amphitheatre.”
