Edward River Council’s annual tree planting subsidy will commence next week with over 50 varieties of plants available to eligible residents.
Aimed at increasing native vegetation in the Edward River Council region, local ratepayers on properties one hectare and over are welcome to apply.
“This year we have the support of Ricegrowers Association through Local Land Services and Landcare NSW who have contributed $1500 to the program,” Edward River Council mayor Norm Brennan said.
“Their support has allowed us to offer optional cardboard tree guards for just 30 cents each, rather than the normal 55 cents each.”
Property owners of one to 500 hectares are welcome to apply for the subsidised seedlings at a cost of $0.65 each from now until Friday 27 August 2021.
Varieties include redgum, wattle, bottlebrush, melaleucas, eucalyptus and more. Property owners of one to 10 hectares are eligible for 50 tube seedlings; for properties 10-500 hectares, 150 tube seedlings are available and for property owners 500 hectares and over, 300 tube seedlings are available.
Cr. Brennan said the scheme was aimed at assisting local property owners to not only help landscape their homes but also to help the environment.
